About Us - Organization

Robinson Rd SiteThe Restoration House began with a vision during the summer of 2005, God gave us a vision of a supportive transitional housing ministry for single mothers that is family oriented and reconciling in nature. Just a couple months later we purchased the property off of Robinson Rd in west Knoxville, TN. The property is 3.5 acres and contains a large 4 bedroom farmhouse that includes a second story apartment with its own kitchen and outside entrance. There is also a 1 bedroom rental house on the property. Both the apartment and the rental house serves as transitional living quarters for single mothers and their children emerging from public housing and/or referral programs. In addition to providing supportive transitional housing, The Restoration House has a team mentoring program in addition to partnering with other community organizations to offer counseling, life skills training, parent training, job training, transportation, etc.  AftOak Ave Siteer more than a year of research and development The Restoration House opened its doors to its first single mother family on November 5, 2007.  In June of 2008, The Restoration House developed a partnership with a local property owner for the use of a 4-plex in the Mechanicsville to serve as our second site.  This property houses three addional families bringing our total capacity to 5 single mother families at any given time.

Our hope is that The Restoration House is known as a nonprofit organization that is an agent of change and restoration for women and children in Knoxville and beyond.
